Meet Althea

Althea is a 500-hour registered yoga teacher trained in vinyasa, hatha, yin, and restorative yoga. She is passionate about sharing the transformative practice of yoga in a way that feels welcoming, supportive, and accessible for all levels, while honoring each student’s unique journey.

For Althea, yoga is so much more than physical movement—it is a way of life. Through mindful movement, breath, intention, and reflection, she encourages students to connect more deeply with themselves and explore the powerful mind-body-spirit connection that yoga offers. Her classes invite students to listen inward, move with intention, and carry the benefits of the practice both on and off the mat.

Althea loves guiding both dynamic, flowing movement practices and gentle, meditative experiences that promote rest, healing, and energetic balance. Her classes are trauma-informed and thoughtfully designed to cultivate mindfulness, gratitude, self-awareness, and meaningful connection within a warm and supportive space. She looks forward to welcoming you to the mat.

How did you discover your passion for movement?

I discovered my passion for movement through the way it made me feel-- grounded, present, and more connected to myself. The mind-body-soul connection is a powerful force that we can tap into when we cultivate awareness, intention, and presence.

Movement is so much more than just physical exercise -- it is a form of healing, self-love, and connection. Through yoga especially, I’ve learned how transformative intentional movement is, not only for physical well-being, but for mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness too.

How has your personal practice supported your self-discovery and healing?

My yoga practice has supported my self-discovery and healing by teaching me how to slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with myself on a deeper level. Through both movement and stillness, yoga has helped me build greater self-awareness, resilience, compassion, and trust.

What can people expect from your teaching style?

I love teaching all styles of yoga! The most important thing to know about my classes is that they are a safe space to come exactly as you are and take whatever it is you need that day. I encourage students to peel back the layers and meet themselves with presence and compassion. I love weaving inspiration from my travels and life experiences into my classes, with the intention of creating an authentic space for healing, self-discovery, connection, and a deeper sense of self-love and understanding.

What is the most inspiring thing about teaching ?

The most inspiring part of teaching yoga is witnessing people reconnect with themselves and leave feeling better than they came in. Whether it’s through movement, breath, stillness, or simply taking time for themselves, it’s incredibly meaningful to hold space for people to soften, reset, and return home to themselves.

What do you love about Berkshire Yoga?

I’m excited to teach at Berkshire Yoga because it feels like a welcoming and community-centered space where people can come as they are. I love that the studio offers a unique variety of movement practices and creates an environment that supports both physical and emotional well-being. As someone who values authenticity, connection, and lifelong learning, I’m excited to contribute my own perspective and energy while also continuing to grow alongside the Berkshire Yoga community.

What do you enjoy outside of the Studio?

When I'm not practicing yoga I love to spend time outdoors and connect with nature. I enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, and sitting in stillness taking in the beauty of mother earth. If I don't get ample time outdoors (yes, even in the winter!) I don't feel like my best self.

I also cherish spending time with my husband, family, friends, and pets. I love to travel and always make a point to practice at local yoga studios wherever I go. I believe there is something to learn from every experience, every teacher, and every community. Exploring new places and meeting new people continually inspires me, and I love weaving the lessons, energy, and inspiration from my travels into my classes to share with others.
