Our mission is to help you feel better in your body, mind and soul.

Meet Cori

Cori is a certified Kripalu yoga instructor. Her personal practices of yoga and meditation have supported her on her journey and she hopes to use these tools to support you on your Path.

Cori’s intention as a teacher is to guide her students inward, thereby supporting them in attuning to their very own Being, Truth and Love.

She enjoys leading a heart-centered, gentle style practice in which students can feel nourished and held, and leave feeling lighter, more joyful and more at peace within themselves.

How did you discover your passion for movement?

Yoga helped me through a time in my life I needed it most. It was like a friend I could turn back to again and again for support each morning, to just be with my breath and my body. To help me ground, to help me find my center and my inner strength. Again and again and again. Yoga still does this for me, both on and off the mat. And for that I am very grateful.

What is the most inspiring thing about teaching students at BYDF?

As a teacher, it is inspiring for me to witness their willingness to trust and try something new and different. I love teaching what comes through me in the moment so at times I may share movements that aren’t always “the norm” for yoga classes—like flapping our arms like wings, or imagining ourselves as dolphins etc. I love that they are open and willing to flow with me. 💓

I am also inspired by the way that they continue to show up for themselves too! It’s not always easy to slow down in the fast-paced world we live in. To pause, and breathe, and care for ourselves in the ways we need. So coming to my gentle yoga class, which is all about self-love and compassion and slowing down, is big. Especially when it’s a class that is very heart-centered and inwardly focused. Emotions, thoughts and feelings can arise. And they keep on showing up. It’s very brave. 💜

And one more— I am super inspired by the love in this community, and the beautiful souls that BYDF attracts. My students are beautiful human beings. And I am incredibly grateful for that. 💗

Flashback to your childhood. What do you want to be when you grow up?

Ha. When I was a child I wanted to be a veterinarian for the longest time. I loved animals so freaking much! (Still do.) But then I found out you had to operate on them and I was out. And then I wanted to be a teacher.

How has your personal movement practice helped develop your sense of self and pave the way for self-discovery and healing?

It has allowed me the space to inwards and just be, with my breath, with my body. To come into the present moment and feel that I am ok. I can drop down and in and find safety there. I can find expression and flow in movement. It is also a space in which I can be with the polarities of life. I can feel both strength and softness simultaneously. I can feel pain and pleasure. It’s a constant practice in my daily life but on the mat (or the grass!) I am able to more easily drop into that space. And find peace with is. And this makes it easier to come back to that space within in the day to day, too.

Yoga has also been an incredibly empowering practice for me as well. It’s fun to explore what our bodies can do, and how they want to move, when we are in that space of allowing and trust. And that helps me off the mat, too.

Plus it’s helped me to laugh at and accept myself more! If I fall, that’s ok. Some days I’m more balanced than others, and that’s ok. And I can fall out of a pose and come right back and try again, smiles and all. And for me in my life, that is a very beautiful thing.

What do you want people to know about your teaching style and classes at BYDF?

My teaching style is gentle and compassionate. I encourage students to close their eyes as much as they like throughout the class, tune into their hearts, and listen to their bodies and honor what they need. I love to drop in with a bit of a longer centering so we can really arrive on our mats together and be present with ourselves. And longer shavasanas when time allows are a favorite of mine too! I love teaching a gentle flow and it is truly an honor for me to hold compassionate, loving space where all parts of ourselves are welcome. My intention is to support my students in connecting to the peace, love, and joy within—perhaps leaving feeling a little lighter, a little less alone, a little more loved, and a little more joyful too. 🩵

Tell us a little more about yourself or what are you up to when you're not in the studio?

When I’m not in the studio, on my days off you can find me hanging out in nature. I love to hike and swim and play in the snow. I am a tree hugger for sure and you’ll often find me with pen and paper writing poetry, or simply meditating, beneath a big pine or oak or maple—whatever tree is calling me that day. :) I also enjoy singing and dancing in my free time too. But most days youI’ll find me working at Kripalu in the Healing Arts department—though at lunch and on break you will likely find me doing all of the aforementioned too! 🤭🩷✨
