Meet Julie

Julie has been practicing yoga for over 23 years. She is a Kripalu Certified Yoga Teacher (2003), Certified Yoga Ed. Teacher (2007), Radiant Child Yoga Teacher (95 hr) (2017), Nurtured Heart Approach trainer (2019), and Strong Nation Instructor (2020). She is a fitness enthusiast who loves running, dance, and all types of fitness. Julie has been a dedicated educator since 2001, and is currently a HILL for Literacy facilitator and educator coach.

She relies on her daily yoga and meditation practice to help her “stay peaceful and present amidst life’s storms”. On a daily basis, yoga and meditation remind her to live breath by breath, moment by moment, and day by day all the while remaining connected to her higher purpose of empowering others to make the world a better place. As a busy mom of two growing boys, Julie knows how challenging it is to juggle all the aspects of our lives. Whether it’s finding your still, quiet center through yoga or lighting your inner fire through fitness, Julie’s here with you through it all. She’s so excited to have you in class!

How did you discover your passion for movement?

I was really into gymnastics growing up I love to move, sweat, and feel great in my body. It helps my mental state 100%.

What is the most inspiring thing about teaching students at BYDF?

I love to continuous transformation and ever evolving expansion people feel individually and collectively through sharing yoga dance and fitness.

Flashback to your childhood. What do you want to be when you grow up?

The next Katie Couric.

How has your personal movement practice helped develop your sense of self and pave the way for self-discovery and healing?

Being on my yoga mat and meditation cushion make me feel safe, secure, and connected to my true self.

What do you want people to know about your teaching style and classes at BYDF?

I love sharing and holding space for deep connection within. Whether I am leading a gentle movement flow or more intense cardio-inspired fitness- you will feel so happy you showed up. The hardest part is showing up.

Tell us a little more about yourself or what are you up to when you're not in the studio?

I am a mom of 2 busy, athletic, lovable boys who are growing way too fast. I’m a wife of a latin dancing husband who loves to have fun. I am also a full-time literacy consultant with HILL for Literacy supporting public school districts in the New England area. Rest is hard to come by! Yoga, dance, and fitness keeps me balanced and sane.
